This month Puerto Rico will be our meeting point. The International Directory will review the initiatives from the regional committees´, discussing as well new proposals and will make adjustments to the current working plans according to the forecasts for the coming year. Furthermore, UPADI´s future will be discussed, since the new statutes proposals will be analyzed. This topic must be and will be discussed with utmost responsibility, and keeping UPADI´s sustainability in mind.

Therefore, we expect to contribute to the improvement of the efficiency in engineering processes and at the same time encouraging environmental sustainability. When resources are scarce (including economical resources), it becomes important to analyze if what is being done is really necessary, or if there is a more efficient manner to satisfy people´s needs. Active participation in the International Directory will be crucial to the achievement of the development of UPADI, as well as of that of engineering, and to revitalize its importance in the hemisphere. This will be obtained by devoloping member organizations and strengthening engineering´s participation in each country´s progress.
