In September 2009, the "Caracas Charter" was subscribed with the opening of the project “Think in the Americas.” This initiative is intended to encourage UPADI member organizations to analyze, structure, and start “country projects” that describe the most pressing needs of engineering sectors in order to achieve optimal social and economic development in their nations.
These projects will be implemented through a diagnosis of their country’s conditions in those areas. Based on this analysis, long-term planning strategies are proposed to be incorporated in the national development plan.
For UPADI, this project is considered not only a great opportunity for the engineering organizations that adopt it, but also an actual opportunity to improve the social, economic, and political situation of their peoples.
In the search for integration and national development, both basic elements in these plan design, it is important for each organization to present its proposals, as both from an engineering and sustainable human development standpoint, these plans will clearly benefit the Latin American societies the most.
